- 8-bit AVR[3]
- Clock
- 16 MHz[1]
- RAM
- 8 KB SRAM[3]
- Flash
- 256 KB (8 KB used by the bootloader)[2]
- EEPROM
- 4 KB[1]
- GPIO
- 54 digital I/O (15 PWM); 4 UARTs[1]
- Analog
- 16 analog inputs (10-bit)[3]
- I/O voltage
- 5 V[1]
- Input voltage
- 7–12 V recommended via barrel jack or VIN; 5 V via USB[2]
- USB
- USB-B via an ATmega16U2 (Rev3; ATmega8U2 on Rev1 and Rev2)[2]
- Dimensions
- 101.5 × 53.3 mm, 37 g[1]
- Upload limits
- 248 KB flash, 8 KB RAM[6]
Upload limits are what a sketch or firmware may use after the bootloader, as the build tools enforce them, not the chip’s full memory.
Can I still use it?
- Arduino framework
- Supported[1]Official Arduino core.
As published by each project, checked weekly. A platform not listed has no published information here, which is not the same as no support.

Gotchas
- I2C and SPI are on different pins. SPI is on pins 50–53 (and the ICSP header), not D10–D13 as on the Uno, so Uno shields that use SPI on D10–D13 need rewiring; I2C is on pins 20 and 21.[4]
- 5 V logic. I/O is 5 V. Sensors and modules that run at 3.3 V (most modern ones) need level shifting on their inputs.[1]
History and use today
History
Introduced in September 2010 alongside the Uno, as an upgrade to the ATmega1280 Arduino Mega.[5]
Still useful for
Still the easy answer when a project needs many 5 V pins or several hardware serial ports, and a common basis for 3D-printer controller boards.
