Specifications
- Chip / SoC
- STMicroelectronics STM32F401RE[1]
- CPU
- Arm Cortex-M4F[2]
- Clock
- 84 MHz[2]
- RAM
- 96 KB SRAM[2]
- Flash
- 512 KB[2]
- I/O voltage
- 3.3 V[2]
- USB
- Mini-USB to the on-board ST-LINK/V2-1 (debugger, virtual COM port, mass storage)[1]
- Expansion
- Arduino Uno V3 headers and ST morpho headers[3]
- Upload limits
- 512 KB flash, 96 KB RAM[4]
Upload limits are what a sketch or firmware may use after the bootloader, as the build tools enforce them, not the chip’s full memory.
Can I still use it?
- Arduino framework
- Supported[4]Arduino framework available through PlatformIO.
- MicroPython
- Supported[6]
- Zephyr RTOS
- Supported[5]
As published by each project, checked weekly. A platform not listed has no published information here, which is not the same as no support.

Gotchas
- Arduino headers, not Arduino voltages. The headers match the Uno layout but the STM32 runs at 3.3 V; check 5 V shields before stacking them.[1]
History and use today
History
Part of ST's Nucleo-64 range introduced in 2014 to make STM32 evaluation cheap, each with a detachable ST-LINK debugger.[1]
Still useful for
A dependable, well-supported STM32 board for learning Zephyr, Mbed-era code or bare-metal Cortex-M development.
