Upload limits are what a sketch or firmware may use after the bootloader, as the build tools enforce them, not the chip’s full memory.

Gotchas

2 known issues
  • 3.3 V only. Teensy 4 pins are not 5 V tolerant, unlike some earlier Teensy boards.[1]
  • It gets warm at 600 MHz. The chip runs warm at full speed; PJRC documents a slower clock setting for low-power use.[1]

History and use today

Editorial

History

Released in August 2019, the Teensy 4.0 brought a 600 MHz crossover processor to a tiny board at under $20.[1]

Still useful for

The go-to for audio processing, MIDI and fast control loops with Arduino code.
